Dishonest - Disrespectful - Incompetent
I'll write the whole story below, but bottom line: they bait-and-switched me on the price we negotiated over the phone, knowing that I had driven over an hour to get there. The Used Car Manager was then unbelievably rude to me and his starting position was that if I had any issue with the price, I should leave. After eventually leaving, I was called by a Vehicle Purchase Partner Lead, who told me that I was right and that it had been an internal miscommunication (he actually told me that it couldn't be an actual bait-and-switch because they are far too incompetent to pull that off which was an interesting thing to admit!) He told me he would email me to follow up. He then completely ghosted me, never emailed nor responded to my emails. The dealership kept on texting me their apologies and that someone would call "to make things right", but they never did. It was an absolute waste of a time and extremely frustrating.
The following is what I texted with dealership rep, but I took out people's individual names:
I came in on Friday and met with Salesman 1 to look at the 2024 Honda Odyssey EX-L. He gave me his card and emailed me. On Sunday, I emailed back asking to set up a time to speak and got no response. I called him on Monday (he said his cell was the best way to get in contact) and he said he wasn't working that day. I called and texted on Tuesday and got no response. I called the dealership number and spoke with an Internet Sales Consultant and we worked out a price of $34k before taxes over the phone. I came in on Wednesday a few minutes late, but then was kept waiting for 30 minutes.
We then were passed off to Salesman B but when it came time to talk price, the price was different than what was agreed to, which was a real bait-and-switch! The Used Car Manager came over and he was incredibly obnoxious. He refused to negotiate on the price at all, but even worse was his demeanor. He quickly jumped to "if you think this is a terrible price, I don't want to sell you the car." He even brought out the Internet Sales Consultant's notes to "prove" that we "miscommunicated", but then I showed him the number on the page that we agreed to, but he ignored that. It was really upsetting to be treated so disrespectfully and dishonestly. I eventually left.
A few hours after I left, I got a call from a Vehicle Purchase Partner Lead,. He told me that I was 100% correct and that it Used Can Manager made a big mistake. He said that I shouldn't think it was dishonesty (a bait and switch), but rather just an accident. He apologized a lot. He told me he couldn't really reduce the price of the car, but he could really work with me on the trade-in. I thought that seemed fair and he told me he would email me so I could send him the VIN. And that was it. He never emailed me. I called him a few times and left a message. I even emailed him the VIN and never heard back. I emailed Salesman B, who I thought wanted the sale to get in touch with VPPL. I was completely ghosted by DCH Kay- except for the clearly automated email from Used Car Manager "following up" on my visit.

This is the second car I have bought there. It was advertised as “certified pre owned” very prominently on the website, and even had a checklist of what had been checked and the definition of cpo. What was buried in the text was that it was “eligible” to be certified, at an additional cost of about $1,500. I felt this was misleading, although the finance agent did reduce the price by half. This has left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.

It took more than the time allotted just so do an oil change and tire rotation dispute I book online ahead of time. They usually vacuum the car and take it for a courtesy wash which was not done. I get much better treatment on my Honda HvV in Florida than I do at your dealership. Also on one of my doors the paint layer is starting to chip off.. Very disappointing.

I also want point out to everyone there - this is my daughter's car and she is driving across country for school next week. That's why I brought it in for a major service appointment on Saturday. If I didn't happen to drive behind her on Monday and notice someone hanging from underneath the car - she could have ran into serious car problems when it started to drag on the ground some where along her long trip. A situation that no one wants their child to be in - let alone their daughter. Very disappointed at my overall experience.

Had my wife’s Honda Pilot serviced and it was a very positive experience thanks to my assigned Service Advisor William Carp. Bill was very personable, knowledgeable of Honda Products, and equally important, reliable and honest. There were NO surprises, and his service recommendations were straight forward and accurate. I intend to only use Bill as my Service Advisor on all future maintenance…..you might want to consider doing the same.
